The getpw<\/b>() function reconstructs the password line entry for the given user ID uid<\/i> in the buffer buf<\/i>. The returned buffer contains a line of format<\/p>\n

name:passwd:uid:gid:gecos:dir:shell<\/b><\/p>\n

RETURN VALUE <\/a> <\/h2>\n

The getpw<\/b>() function returns 0 on success; on error, it returns \u22121, and errno<\/i> is set to indicate the error.<\/p>\n

If uid<\/i> is not found in the password database, getpw<\/b>() returns \u22121, sets errno<\/i> to 0, and leaves buf<\/i> unchanged.<\/p>\n
