The Linux implementation of this interface may differ (consult the corresponding Linux manual page for details of Linux behavior), or the interface may not be implemented on Linux.<\/p>\n<h2>NAME <a name=\"NAME\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">qrls \u2014 release batch jobs<\/p>\n<h2>SYNOPSIS <a name=\"SYNOPSIS\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">qrls <b>[<\/b>-h <i>hold_list<\/i><b>]<\/b> <i>job_identifier<\/i>&#8230;<\/p>\n<h2>DESCRIPTION <a name=\"DESCRIPTION\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">A batch job might have one or more holds, which prevent the batch job from executing. A batch job from which all the holds have been removed becomes eligible for execution and is said to have been released. A batch job hold is removed by sending a request to the batch server that manages the batch job. The <i>qrls<\/i> utility is a user-accessible client of batch services that requests holds be removed from one or more batch jobs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>qrls<\/i> utility shall remove one or more holds from those batch jobs for which a batch <i>job_identifier<\/i> is presented to the utility.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>qrls<\/i> utility shall remove holds from batch jobs in the order in which their batch <i>job_identifier<\/i>s are presented to the utility.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">If the <i>qrls<\/i> utility fails to process a batch <i>job_identifier<\/i> successfully, the utility shall proceed to process the remaining batch <i>job_identifier<\/i>s, if any.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>qrls<\/i> utility shall remove holds on each batch job by sending a <i>Release Job Request<\/i> to the batch server that manages the batch job.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>qrls<\/i> utility shall not exit until the holds have been removed from the batch job corresponding to each successfully processed batch <i>job_identifier<\/i>.<\/p>\n<h2>OPTIONS <a name=\"OPTIONS\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>qrls<\/i> utility shall conform to the Base Definitions volume of POSIX.1-2017, <i>Section 12.2<\/i>, <i>Utility Syntax Guidelines<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The following option shall be supported by the implementation: <b><br \/> \u2212h\u00a0<\/b><i>hold_list<\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:26%;\">Define the types of holds to be removed from the batch job.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:26%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>qrls<\/i> <b>\u2212h<\/b> option shall accept a value for the <i>hold_list<\/i> option-argument that is a string of alphanumeric characters in the portable character set (see the Base Definitions volume of POSIX.1-2017, <i>Section 6.1<\/i>, <i>Portable Character Set<\/i>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:26%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>qrls<\/i> utility shall accept a value for the <i>hold_list<\/i> option-argument that is a string of one or more of the characters <b>\u2019u\u2019<\/b>, <b>\u2019s\u2019<\/b>, or <b>\u2019o\u2019<\/b>, or the single character <b>\u2019n\u2019<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:26%; margin-top: 1em\">For each unique character in the <i>hold_list<\/i> option-argument, the <i>qrls<\/i> utility shall add a value to the <i>Hold_Types<\/i> attribute of the batch job as follows, each representing a different hold type:<\/p>\n<table width=\"100%\" border=\"0\" rules=\"none\" frame=\"void\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tr valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">\n<td width=\"26%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"2%\">\n<p>u<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"7%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"13%\">\n<p>USER<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"52%\"> <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">\n<td width=\"26%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"2%\">\n<p>s<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"7%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"13%\">\n<p>SYSTEM<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"52%\"> <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">\n<td width=\"26%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"2%\">\n<p>o<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"7%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"13%\">\n<p>OPERATOR<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"52%\"> <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p style=\"margin-left:26%; margin-top: 1em\">If any of these characters are duplicated in the <i>hold_list<\/i> option-argument, the duplicates shall be ignored.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:26%; margin-top: 1em\">An existing <i>Hold_Types<\/i> attribute can be cleared by the following hold type:<\/p>\n<table width=\"100%\" border=\"0\" rules=\"none\" frame=\"void\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tr valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">\n<td width=\"26%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"2%\">\n<p style=\"margin-top: 1em\">n<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"7%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"11%\">\n<p style=\"margin-top: 1em\">NO_HOLD<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"54%\"> <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p style=\"margin-left:26%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>qrls<\/i> utility shall consider it an error if any hold type other than <b>\u2019n\u2019<\/b> is combined with hold type <b>\u2019n\u2019<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:26%; margin-top: 1em\">Strictly conforming applications shall not repeat any of the characters <b>\u2019u\u2019<\/b>, <b>\u2019s\u2019<\/b>, <b>\u2019o\u2019<\/b>, or <b>\u2019n\u2019<\/b> within the <i>hold_list<\/i> option-argument. The <i>qrls<\/i> utility shall permit the repetition of characters, but shall not assign additional meaning to the repeated characters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:26%; margin-top: 1em\">An implementation may define other hold types. The conformance document for an implementation shall describe any additional hold types, how they are specified, their internal behavior, and how they affect the behavior of the utility.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:26%; margin-top: 1em\">If the <b>\u2212h<\/b> option is not presented to the <i>qrls<\/i> utility, the implementation shall remove the USER hold in the <i>Hold_Types<\/i> attribute.<\/p>\n<h2>OPERANDS <a name=\"OPERANDS\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>qrls<\/i> utility shall accept one or more operands that conform to the syntax for a batch <i>job_identifier<\/i> (see <i>Section 3.3.1<\/i>, <i>Batch Job Identifier<\/i>).<\/p>\n<h2>STDIN <a name=\"STDIN\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">Not used.<\/p>\n<h2>INPUT FILES <a name=\"INPUT FILES\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">None.<\/p>\n<h2>ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES <a name=\"ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The following environment variables shall affect the execution of <i>qrls<\/i>:<\/p>\n<table width=\"100%\" border=\"0\" rules=\"none\" frame=\"void\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tr valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">\n<td width=\"11%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"12%\">\n<p style=\"margin-top: 1em\"><i>LANG<\/i><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"3%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"74%\">\n<p style=\"margin-top: 1em\">Provide a default value for the internationalization variables that are unset or null. Whether or not the <i>qrls<\/i> utility waits to output the diagnostic message while attempting to locate the job on other servers is implementation-defined.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\"><i>The following sections are informative.<\/i><\/p>\n<h2>APPLICATION USAGE <a name=\"APPLICATION USAGE\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">None.<\/p>\n<h2>EXAMPLES <a name=\"EXAMPLES\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">None.<\/p>\n<h2>RATIONALE <a name=\"RATIONALE\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>qrls<\/i> utility allows users, operators, and administrators to remove holds from jobs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>qrls<\/i> utility does not support any job selection options or wildcard arguments. Users may acquire a list of jobs selected by attributes using the <i>qselect<\/i> utility. For example, a user could select all of their held jobs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <b>\u2212h<\/b> option allows the user to specify the type of hold that is to be removed. This option allows for USER, SYSTEM, OPERATOR, and implementation-defined hold types. The batch server that manages the batch job will verify whether the user is authorized to remove the specified hold for the batch job.
