zcat \u2014 expand and concatenate data<\/p>\n

SYNOPSIS <\/a> <\/h2>\n

zcat [<\/b>file<\/i>…]<\/b><\/p>\n

DESCRIPTION <\/a> <\/h2>\n

The zcat<\/i> utility shall write to standard output the uncompressed form of files that have been compressed using the compress<\/i> utility. It is the equivalent of uncompress<\/i> \u2212c<\/b>. Input files are not affected.<\/p>\n

OPERANDS <\/a> <\/h2>\n

The following operand shall be supported:<\/p>\n\n\n

The pathname of a file previously processed by the compress<\/i> utility. If file<\/i> already has the .Z<\/b> suffix specified, it is used as submitted. Otherwise, the .Z<\/b> suffix is appended to the filename prior to processing.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n

STDIN <\/a> <\/h2>\n

The standard input shall be used only if no file<\/i> operands are specified, or if a file<\/i> operand is \u2019\u2212\u2019<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Input files shall be compressed files that are in the format produced by the compress<\/i> utility.<\/p>\n

ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES <\/a> <\/h2>\n
