In some installations, there may also be preformatted <i>cat pages<\/i> to improve performance. See <b>manpath<\/b>(5) for details of where these files are stored.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">This package supports manual pages in multiple languages, controlled by your <i>locale<\/i>. Searching the rendered text would be much slower.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%;\"><b>\u2212l<\/b>, <b>\u2212\u2212local\u2212file<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:22%;\">Activate &#8220;local&#8221; mode. Format and display local manual files instead of searching through the system\u2019s manual collection. Each manual page argument will be interpreted as an nroff source file in the correct format. No cat file is produced. If \u2019\u2212\u2019 is listed as one of the arguments, input will be taken from stdin. When this option is not used, and man fails to find the page required, before displaying the error message, it attempts to act as if this option was supplied, using the name as a filename and looking for an exact match.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%;\"><b>\u2212w<\/b>, <b>\u2212\u2212where<\/b>, <b>\u2212\u2212path<\/b>, <b>\u2212\u2212location<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:22%;\">Don\u2019t actually display the manual page, but do print the location of the source nroff file that would be formatted. If the <b>\u2212a<\/b> option is also used, then print the locations of all source files that match the search criteria.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%;\"><b>\u2212W<\/b>, <b>\u2212\u2212where\u2212cat<\/b>, <b>\u2212\u2212location\u2212cat<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:22%;\">Don\u2019t actually display the manual page, but do print the location of the preformatted cat file that would be displayed. If the <b>\u2212a<\/b> option is also used, then print the locations of all preformatted cat files that match the search criteria.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:22%; margin-top: 1em\">If <b>\u2212w<\/b> and <b>\u2212W<\/b> are both used, then print both source file and cat file separated by a space.
