pthread_equal \u2014 compare thread IDs<\/p>\n

DESCRIPTION <\/a> <\/h2>\n

This function shall compare the thread IDs t1<\/i> and t2<\/i>.<\/p>\n

RETURN VALUE <\/a> <\/h2>\n

The pthread_equal<\/i>() function shall return a non-zero value if t1<\/i> and t2<\/i> are equal; otherwise, zero shall be returned.<\/p>\n

If either t1<\/i> or t2<\/i> are not valid thread IDs, the behavior is undefined.<\/p>\n

ERRORS <\/a> <\/h2>\n

No errors are defined.<\/p>\n

The pthread_equal<\/i>() function shall not return an error code of [EINTR]<\/b>.<\/p>\n

RATIONALE <\/a> <\/h2>\n

Implementations may choose to define a thread ID as a structure. This allows additional flexibility and robustness over using an int<\/b>. For example, a thread ID could include a sequence number that allows detection of \u2018\u2018dangling IDs\u2019\u2019 (copies of a thread ID that has been detached). Since the C language does not support comparison on structure types, the pthread_equal<\/i>() function is provided to compare thread IDs.<\/p>\n
