The Linux implementation of this interface may differ (consult the corresponding Linux manual page for details of Linux behavior), or the interface may not be implemented on Linux.<\/p>\n<h2>NAME <a name=\"NAME\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">lchown \u2014 change the owner and group of a symbolic link<\/p>\n<h2>SYNOPSIS <a name=\"SYNOPSIS\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">#include <unistd.h><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">int lchown(const char *<i>path<\/i>, uid_t <i>owner<\/i>, gid_t <i>group<\/i>);<\/p>\n<h2>DESCRIPTION <a name=\"DESCRIPTION\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>lchown<\/i>() function shall be equivalent to <i>chown<\/i>(), except in the case where the named file is a symbolic link. In this case, <i>lchown<\/i>() shall change the ownership of the symbolic link file itself, while <i>chown<\/i>() changes the ownership of the file or directory to which the symbolic link refers.<\/p>\n<h2>RETURN VALUE <a name=\"RETURN VALUE\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">Upon successful completion, <i>lchown<\/i>() shall return 0.
