Any conflict between the requirements described here and the ISO\u00a0C standard is unintentional. This volume of POSIX.1-2017 defers to the ISO\u00a0C standard.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>assert<\/i>() macro shall insert diagnostics into programs; it shall expand to a <b>void<\/b> expression.
