The Linux implementation of this interface may differ (consult the corresponding Linux manual page for details of Linux behavior), or the interface may not be implemented on Linux.<\/p>\n<h2>NAME <a name=\"NAME\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">pthread_mutex_getprioceiling, pthread_mutex_setprioceiling \u2014 get and set the priority ceiling of a mutex (<b>REALTIME THREADS<\/b>)<\/p>\n<h2>SYNOPSIS <a name=\"SYNOPSIS\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">#include <pthread.h><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">int pthread_mutex_getprioceiling(const pthread_mutex_t *restrict <i>mutex<\/i>, <br \/> int *restrict <i>prioceiling<\/i>); <br \/> int pthread_mutex_setprioceiling(pthread_mutex_t *restrict <i>mutex<\/i>, <br \/> int <i>prioceiling<\/i>, int *restrict <i>old_ceiling<\/i>);<\/p>\n<h2>DESCRIPTION <a name=\"DESCRIPTION\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>pthread_mutex_getprioceiling<\/i>() function shall return the current priority ceiling of the mutex.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>pthread_mutex_setprioceiling<\/i>() function shall attempt to lock the mutex as if by a call to <i>pthread_mutex_lock<\/i>(), except that the process of locking the mutex need not adhere to the priority protect protocol. On acquiring the mutex it shall change the mutex\u2019s priority ceiling and then release the mutex as if by a call to <i>pthread_mutex_unlock<\/i>(). When the change is successful, the previous value of the priority ceiling shall be returned in <i>old_ceiling<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">If the <i>pthread_mutex_setprioceiling<\/i>() function fails, the mutex priority ceiling shall not be changed.<\/p>\n<h2>RETURN VALUE <a name=\"RETURN VALUE\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">If successful, the <i>pthread_mutex_getprioceiling<\/i>() and <i>pthread_mutex_setprioceiling<\/i>() functions shall return zero; otherwise, an error number shall be returned to indicate the error.<\/p>\n<h2>ERRORS <a name=\"ERRORS\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">These functions shall fail if:<\/p>\n<table width=\"100%\" border=\"0\" rules=\"none\" frame=\"void\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tr valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">\n<td width=\"11%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"9%\">\n<p><b>EINVAL<\/b><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"2%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"78%\">\n<p>The protocol attribute of <i>mutex<\/i> is PTHREAD_PRIO_NONE.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">\n<td width=\"11%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"9%\">\n<p><b>EPERM<\/b><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"2%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"78%\">\n<p>The implementation requires appropriate privileges to perform the operation and the caller does not have appropriate privileges.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>pthread_mutex_setprioceiling<\/i>() function shall fail if:<\/p>\n<table width=\"100%\" border=\"0\" rules=\"none\" frame=\"void\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tr valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">\n<td width=\"11%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"9%\">\n<p style=\"margin-top: 1em\"><b>EAGAIN<\/b><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"2%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"78%\">\n<p style=\"margin-top: 1em\">The mutex could not be acquired because the maximum number of recursive locks for <i>mutex<\/i> has been exceeded.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%;\"><b>EDEADLK<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:22%;\">The mutex type is PTHREAD_MUTEX_ERRORCHECK and the current thread already owns the mutex.<\/p>\n<table width=\"100%\" border=\"0\" rules=\"none\" frame=\"void\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tr valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">\n<td width=\"11%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"9%\">\n<p><b>EINVAL<\/b><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"2%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"78%\">\n<p>The mutex was created with the protocol attribute having the value PTHREAD_PRIO_PROTECT and the calling thread\u2019s priority is higher than the mutex\u2019s current priority ceiling, and the implementation adheres to the priority protect protocol in the process of locking the mutex.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%;\"><b>ENOTRECOVERABLE<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:22%;\">The mutex is a robust mutex and the state protected by the mutex is not recoverable.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%;\"><b>EOWNERDEAD<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:22%;\">The mutex is a robust mutex and the process containing the previous owning thread terminated while holding the mutex lock.
