The Linux implementation of this interface may differ (consult the corresponding Linux manual page for details of Linux behavior), or the interface may not be implemented on Linux.<\/p>\n<h2>NAME <a name=\"NAME\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">fmod, fmodf, fmodl \u2014 floating-point remainder value function<\/p>\n<h2>SYNOPSIS <a name=\"SYNOPSIS\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">#include <math.h><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">double fmod(double <i>x<\/i>, double <i>y<\/i>); <br \/> float fmodf(float <i>x<\/i>, float <i>y<\/i>); <br \/> long double fmodl(long double <i>x<\/i>, long double <i>y<\/i>);<\/p>\n<h2>DESCRIPTION <a name=\"DESCRIPTION\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The functionality described on this reference page is aligned with the ISO\u00a0C standard. Any conflict between the requirements described here and the ISO\u00a0C standard is unintentional. This volume of POSIX.1-2017 defers to the ISO\u00a0C standard.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">These functions shall return the floating-point remainder of the division of <i>x<\/i> by <i>y<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">An application wishing to check for error situations should set <i>errno<\/i> to zero and call <i>feclearexcept<\/i>(FE_ALL_EXCEPT) before calling these functions. On return, if <i>errno<\/i> is non-zero or <i>fetestexcept<\/i>(FE_INVALID | FE_DIVBYZERO | FE_OVERFLOW | FE_UNDERFLOW) is non-zero, an error has occurred.<\/p>\n<h2>RETURN VALUE <a name=\"RETURN VALUE\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">These functions shall return the value <i>x<\/i>\u2212<i>i<\/i>*<i>y<\/i>, for some integer <i>i<\/i> such that, if <i>y<\/i> is non-zero, the result has the same sign as <i>x<\/i> and magnitude less than the magnitude of <i>y<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">If the correct value would cause underflow, and is not representable, a range error may occur, and <i>fmod<\/i>(), <i>modf<\/i>(), and <i>fmodl<\/i>() shall return 0.0, or (if the IEC 60559 Floating-Point option is not supported) an implementation-defined value no greater in magnitude than DBL_MIN, FLT_MIN, and LDBL_MIN, respectively.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">If <i>x<\/i> or <i>y<\/i> is NaN, a NaN shall be returned, and none of the conditions below shall be considered.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">If <i>y<\/i> is zero, a domain error shall occur, and a NaN shall be returned.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">If <i>x<\/i> is infinite, a domain error shall occur, and a NaN shall be returned.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">If <i>x<\/i> is \u00b10 and <i>y<\/i> is not zero, \u00b10 shall be returned.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">If <i>x<\/i> is not infinite and <i>y<\/i> is \u00b1Inf, <i>x<\/i> shall be returned.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">If the correct value would cause underflow, and is representable, a range error may occur and the correct value shall be returned.<\/p>\n<h2>ERRORS <a name=\"ERRORS\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">These functions shall fail if: <br \/> Domain\u00a0Error<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:29%;\">The <i>x<\/i> argument is infinite or <i>y<\/i> is zero.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:29%; margin-top: 1em\">If the integer expression (<i>math_errhandling<\/i> &#038; MATH_ERRNO) is non-zero, then <i>errno<\/i> shall be set to <b>[EDOM]<\/b>. If the integer expression (<i>math_errhandling<\/i> &#038; MATH_ERREXCEPT) is non-zero, then the invalid floating-point exception shall be raised.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">These functions may fail if:<\/p>\n<table width=\"100%\" border=\"0\" rules=\"none\" frame=\"void\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tr valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">\n<td width=\"11%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"17%\">\n<p>Range\u00a0Error<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"1%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"34%\">\n<p>The result underflows.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"37%\"> <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p style=\"margin-left:29%; margin-top: 1em\">If the integer expression (<i>math_errhandling<\/i> &#038; MATH_ERRNO) is non-zero, then <i>errno<\/i> shall be set to <b>[ERANGE]<\/b>.
