NAME <\/a> <\/h2>\n

pthread_attr_getinheritsched, pthread_attr_setinheritsched \u2014 get and set the inheritsched attribute (REALTIME THREADS<\/b>)<\/p>\n

DESCRIPTION <\/a> <\/h2>\n

The pthread_attr_getinheritsched<\/i>() and pthread_attr_setinheritsched<\/i>() functions, respectively, shall get and set the inheritsched<\/i> attribute in the attr<\/i> argument.<\/p>\n

When the attributes objects are used by pthread_create<\/i>(), the inheritsched<\/i> attribute determines how the other scheduling attributes of the created thread shall be set.<\/p>\n

The supported values of inheritsched<\/i> shall be:
PTHREAD_INHERIT_SCHED<\/p>\n

Specifies that the thread scheduling attributes shall be inherited from the creating thread, and the scheduling attributes in this attr<\/i> argument shall be ignored.<\/p>\n

PTHREAD_EXPLICIT_SCHED<\/p>\n

Specifies that the thread scheduling attributes shall be set to the corresponding values from this attributes object.<\/p>\n

The symbols PTHREAD_INHERIT_SCHED and PTHREAD_EXPLICIT_SCHED are defined in the <\/i> header.<\/p>\n

The following thread scheduling attributes defined by POSIX.1-2008 are affected by the inheritsched<\/i> attribute: scheduling policy (schedpolicy<\/i>), scheduling parameters (schedparam<\/i>), and scheduling contention scope (contentionscope<\/i>).<\/p>\n

The behavior is undefined if the value specified by the attr<\/i> argument to pthread_attr_getinheritsched<\/i>() or pthread_attr_setinheritsched<\/i>() does not refer to an initialized thread attributes object.<\/p>\n

RETURN VALUE <\/a> <\/h2>\n

If successful, the pthread_attr_getinheritsched<\/i>() and pthread_attr_setinheritsched<\/i>() functions shall return zero; otherwise, an error number shall be returned to indicate the error.<\/p>\n

ERRORS <\/a> <\/h2>\n

The pthread_attr_setinheritsched<\/i>() function shall fail if:
ENOTSUP<\/b><\/p>\n

An attempt was made to set the attribute to an unsupported value.<\/p>\n

The pthread_attr_setinheritsched<\/i>() function may fail if:<\/p>\n\n\n

After these attributes have been set, a thread can be created with the specified attributes using pthread_create<\/i>(). Using these routines does not affect the current running thread.<\/p>\n

See Section 2.9.4<\/i>, Thread Scheduling<\/i> for further details on thread scheduling attributes and their default settings.<\/p>\n

RATIONALE <\/a> <\/h2>\n

If an implementation detects that the value specified by the attr<\/i> argument to pthread_attr_getinheritsched<\/i>() or pthread_attr_setinheritsched<\/i>() does not refer to an initialized thread attributes object, it is recommended that the function should fail and report an [EINVAL]<\/b> error.<\/p>\n
