The Linux implementation of this interface may differ (consult the corresponding Linux manual page for details of Linux behavior), or the interface may not be implemented on Linux.<\/p>\n<h2>NAME <a name=\"NAME\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">pthread_attr_getinheritsched, pthread_attr_setinheritsched \u2014 get and set the inheritsched attribute (<b>REALTIME THREADS<\/b>)<\/p>\n<h2>SYNOPSIS <a name=\"SYNOPSIS\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">#include <pthread.h><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">int pthread_attr_getinheritsched(const pthread_attr_t *restrict <i>attr<\/i>, <br \/> int *restrict <i>inheritsched<\/i>); <br \/> int pthread_attr_setinheritsched(pthread_attr_t *<i>attr<\/i>, <br \/> int <i>inheritsched<\/i>);<\/p>\n<h2>DESCRIPTION <a name=\"DESCRIPTION\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>pthread_attr_getinheritsched<\/i>() and <i>pthread_attr_setinheritsched<\/i>() functions, respectively, shall get and set the <i>inheritsched<\/i> attribute in the <i>attr<\/i> argument.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">When the attributes objects are used by <i>pthread_create<\/i>(), the <i>inheritsched<\/i> attribute determines how the other scheduling attributes of the created thread shall be set.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The supported values of <i>inheritsched<\/i> shall be: <br \/> PTHREAD_INHERIT_SCHED<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:20%;\">Specifies that the thread scheduling attributes shall be inherited from the creating thread, and the scheduling attributes in this <i>attr<\/i> argument shall be ignored.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%;\">PTHREAD_EXPLICIT_SCHED<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:20%;\">Specifies that the thread scheduling attributes shall be set to the corresponding values from this attributes object.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The symbols PTHREAD_INHERIT_SCHED and PTHREAD_EXPLICIT_SCHED are defined in the <i><pthread.h><\/i> header.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The following thread scheduling attributes defined by POSIX.1-2008 are affected by the <i>inheritsched<\/i> attribute: scheduling policy (<i>schedpolicy<\/i>), scheduling parameters (<i>schedparam<\/i>), and scheduling contention scope (<i>contentionscope<\/i>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The behavior is undefined if the value specified by the <i>attr<\/i> argument to <i>pthread_attr_getinheritsched<\/i>() or <i>pthread_attr_setinheritsched<\/i>() does not refer to an initialized thread attributes object.<\/p>\n<h2>RETURN VALUE <a name=\"RETURN VALUE\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">If successful, the <i>pthread_attr_getinheritsched<\/i>() and <i>pthread_attr_setinheritsched<\/i>() functions shall return zero; otherwise, an error number shall be returned to indicate the error.<\/p>\n<h2>ERRORS <a name=\"ERRORS\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>pthread_attr_setinheritsched<\/i>() function shall fail if: <b><br \/> ENOTSUP<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:22%;\">An attempt was made to set the attribute to an unsupported value.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>pthread_attr_setinheritsched<\/i>() function may fail if:<\/p>\n<table width=\"100%\" border=\"0\" rules=\"none\" frame=\"void\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tr valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">\n<td width=\"11%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"9%\">\n<p><b>EINVAL<\/b><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"2%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"60%\">\n<p>The value of <i>inheritsched<\/i> is not valid.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"18%\"> <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">These functions shall not return an error code of <b>[EINTR]<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\"><i>The following sections are informative.<\/i><\/p>\n<h2>EXAMPLES <a name=\"EXAMPLES\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">None.<\/p>\n<h2>APPLICATION USAGE <a name=\"APPLICATION USAGE\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">After these attributes have been set, a thread can be created with the specified attributes using <i>pthread_create<\/i>().
