The Linux implementation of this interface may differ (consult the corresponding Linux manual page for details of Linux behavior), or the interface may not be implemented on Linux.<\/p>\n<h2>NAME <a name=\"NAME\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">fchmod \u2014 change mode of a file<\/p>\n<h2>SYNOPSIS <a name=\"SYNOPSIS\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">#include <sys\/stat.h><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">int fchmod(int <i>fildes<\/i>, mode_t <i>mode<\/i>);<\/p>\n<h2>DESCRIPTION <a name=\"DESCRIPTION\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>fchmod<\/i>() function shall be equivalent to <i>chmod<\/i>() except that the file whose permissions are changed is specified by the file descriptor <i>fildes<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">If <i>fildes<\/i> references a shared memory object, the <i>fchmod<\/i>() function need only affect the S_IRUSR, S_IWUSR, S_IRGRP, S_IWGRP, S_IROTH, and S_IWOTH file permission bits.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">If <i>fildes<\/i> references a typed memory object, the behavior of <i>fchmod<\/i>() is unspecified.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">If <i>fildes<\/i> refers to a socket, the behavior of <i>fchmod<\/i>() is unspecified.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">If <i>fildes<\/i> refers to a STREAM (which is <i>fattach<\/i>()-ed into the file system name space) the call returns successfully, doing nothing.<\/p>\n<h2>RETURN VALUE <a name=\"RETURN VALUE\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">Upon successful completion, <i>fchmod<\/i>() shall return 0.
