DESCRIPTION <\/a> <\/h2>\n

The functionality described on this reference page is aligned with the ISO\u00a0C standard. Any conflict between the requirements described here and the ISO\u00a0C standard is unintentional. This volume of POSIX.1-2017 defers to the ISO\u00a0C standard.<\/p>\n

These functions shall be equivalent to the strtol<\/i>(), strtoll<\/i>(), strtoul<\/i>(), and strtoull<\/i>() functions, except that the initial portion of the string shall be converted to intmax_t<\/b> and uintmax_t<\/b> representation, respectively.<\/p>\n

RETURN VALUE <\/a> <\/h2>\n

These functions shall return the converted value, if any.<\/p>\n

If no conversion could be performed, zero shall be returned and errno<\/i> may be set to [EINVAL]<\/b>.<\/p>\n

If the value of base<\/i> is not supported, 0 shall be returned and errno<\/i> shall be set to [EINVAL]<\/b>.<\/p>\n

If the correct value is outside the range of representable values, {INTMAX_MAX}, {INTMAX_MIN}, or {UINTMAX_MAX} shall be returned (according to the return type and sign of the value, if any), and errno<\/i> shall be set to [ERANGE]<\/b>.<\/p>\n
