The Linux implementation of this interface may differ (consult the corresponding Linux manual page for details of Linux behavior), or the interface may not be implemented on Linux.<\/p>\n<h2>NAME <a name=\"NAME\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">shmdt \u2014 XSI shared memory detach operation<\/p>\n<h2>SYNOPSIS <a name=\"SYNOPSIS\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">#include <sys\/shm.h><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">int shmdt(const void *<i>shmaddr<\/i>);<\/p>\n<h2>DESCRIPTION <a name=\"DESCRIPTION\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>shmdt<\/i>() function operates on XSI shared memory (see the Base Definitions volume of POSIX.1-2017, <i>Section 3.346<\/i>, <i>Shared Memory Object<\/i>). It is unspecified whether this function interoperates with the realtime interprocess communication facilities defined in <i>Section 2.8<\/i>, <i>Realtime<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>shmdt<\/i>() function detaches the shared memory segment located at the address specified by <i>shmaddr<\/i> from the address space of the calling process.<\/p>\n<h2>RETURN VALUE <a name=\"RETURN VALUE\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">Upon successful completion, <i>shmdt<\/i>() shall decrement the value of <i>shm_nattch<\/i> in the data structure associated with the shared memory ID of the attached shared memory segment and return 0.
