wcscoll, wcscoll_l \u2014 wide-character string comparison using collating information<\/p>\n

DESCRIPTION <\/a> <\/h2>\n

For wcscoll<\/i>(): The functionality described on this reference page is aligned with the ISO\u00a0C standard. Any conflict between the requirements described here and the ISO\u00a0C standard is unintentional. This volume of POSIX.1-2017 defers to the ISO\u00a0C standard.<\/p>\n

The wcscoll<\/i>() and wcscoll_l<\/i>() functions shall compare the wide-character string pointed to by ws1<\/i> to the wide-character string pointed to by ws2<\/i>, both interpreted as appropriate to the LC_COLLATE<\/i> category of the current locale, or the locale represented by locale<\/i>, respectively.<\/p>\n

The wcscoll<\/i>() and wcscoll_l<\/i>() functions shall not change the setting of errno<\/i> if successful.<\/p>\n

An application wishing to check for error situations should set errno<\/i> to 0 before calling wcscoll<\/i>() or wcscoll_l<\/i>(). If errno<\/i> is non-zero on return, an error has occurred.<\/p>\n

The behavior is undefined if the locale<\/i> argument to wcscoll_l<\/i>() is the special locale object LC_GLOBAL_LOCALE or is not a valid locale object handle.<\/p>\n

RETURN VALUE <\/a> <\/h2>\n

Upon successful completion, wcscoll<\/i>() and wcscoll_l<\/i>() shall return an integer greater than, equal to, or less than 0, according to whether the wide-character string pointed to by ws1<\/i> is greater than, equal to, or less than the wide-character string pointed to by ws2<\/i>, when both are interpreted as appropriate to the current locale, or to the locale represented by locale<\/i>, respectively. On error, wcscoll<\/i>() and wcscoll_l<\/i>() shall set errno<\/i>, but no return value is reserved to indicate an error.<\/p>\n
