Any conflict between the requirements described here and the ISO\u00a0C standard is unintentional. This volume of POSIX.1-2017 defers to the ISO\u00a0C standard.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>wcscoll<\/i>() and <i>wcscoll_l<\/i>() functions shall compare the wide-character string pointed to by <i>ws1<\/i> to the wide-character string pointed to by <i>ws2<\/i>, both interpreted as appropriate to the <i>LC_COLLATE<\/i> category of the current locale, or the locale represented by <i>locale<\/i>, respectively.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>wcscoll<\/i>() and <i>wcscoll_l<\/i>() functions shall not change the setting of <i>errno<\/i> if successful.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">An application wishing to check for error situations should set <i>errno<\/i> to 0 before calling <i>wcscoll<\/i>() or <i>wcscoll_l<\/i>(). If <i>errno<\/i> is non-zero on return, an error has occurred.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The behavior is undefined if the <i>locale<\/i> argument to <i>wcscoll_l<\/i>() is the special locale object LC_GLOBAL_LOCALE or is not a valid locale object handle.<\/p>\n<h2>RETURN VALUE <a name=\"RETURN VALUE\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">Upon successful completion, <i>wcscoll<\/i>() and <i>wcscoll_l<\/i>() shall return an integer greater than, equal to, or less than 0, according to whether the wide-character string pointed to by <i>ws1<\/i> is greater than, equal to, or less than the wide-character string pointed to by <i>ws2<\/i>, when both are interpreted as appropriate to the current locale, or to the locale represented by <i>locale<\/i>, respectively.
