The Linux implementation of this interface may differ (consult the corresponding Linux manual page for details of Linux behavior), or the interface may not be implemented on Linux.<\/p>\n<h2>NAME <a name=\"NAME\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">fgetws \u2014 get a wide-character string from a stream<\/p>\n<h2>SYNOPSIS <a name=\"SYNOPSIS\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">#include <stdio.h> <br \/> #include <wchar.h><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">wchar_t *fgetws(wchar_t *restrict <i>ws<\/i>, int <i>n<\/i>, <br \/> FILE *restrict <i>stream<\/i>);<\/p>\n<h2>DESCRIPTION <a name=\"DESCRIPTION\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The functionality described on this reference page is aligned with the ISO\u00a0C standard. Any conflict between the requirements described here and the ISO\u00a0C standard is unintentional. This volume of POSIX.1-2017 defers to the ISO\u00a0C standard.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>fgetws<\/i>() function shall read characters from the <i>stream<\/i>, convert these to the corresponding wide-character codes, place them in the <b>wchar_t<\/b> array pointed to by <i>ws<\/i>, until <i>n<\/i>\u22121 characters are read, or a <newline> is read, converted, and transferred to <i>ws<\/i>, or an end-of-file condition is encountered. The wide-character string, <i>ws<\/i>, shall then be terminated with a null wide-character code.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">If an error occurs, the resulting value of the file position indicator for the stream is unspecified.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>fgetws<\/i>() function may mark the last data access timestamp of the file associated with <i>stream<\/i> for update. The last data access timestamp shall be marked for update by the first successful execution of <i>fgetwc<\/i>(), <i>fgetws<\/i>(), <i>fwscanf<\/i>(), <i>getwc<\/i>(), <i>getwchar<\/i>(), <i>vfwscanf<\/i>(), <i>vwscanf<\/i>(), or <i>wscanf<\/i>() using <i>stream<\/i> that returns data not supplied by a prior call to <i>ungetwc<\/i>().<\/p>\n<h2>RETURN VALUE <a name=\"RETURN VALUE\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">Upon successful completion, <i>fgetws<\/i>() shall return <i>ws<\/i>. If the end-of-file indicator for the stream is set, or if the stream is at end-of-file, the end-of-file indicator for the stream shall be set and <i>fgetws<\/i>() shall return a null pointer.
