The functionality described on this reference page is aligned with the ISO\u00a0C standard. Any conflict between the requirements described here and the ISO\u00a0C standard is unintentional. This volume of POSIX.1-2017 defers to the ISO\u00a0C standard.<\/p>\n

These functions shall compute the quotient and remainder of the division of the numerator numer<\/i> by the denominator denom<\/i>. If the division is inexact, the resulting quotient is the long<\/b> integer (for the ldiv<\/i>() function) or long long<\/b> integer (for the lldiv<\/i>() function) of lesser magnitude that is the nearest to the algebraic quotient. If the result cannot be represented, the behavior is undefined; otherwise, quot\u00a0<\/i>*\u00a0denom<\/i>+rem<\/i> shall equal numer<\/i>.<\/p>\n

RETURN VALUE <\/a> <\/h2>\n

The ldiv<\/i>() function shall return a structure of type ldiv_t<\/b>, comprising both the quotient and the remainder. The structure shall include the following members, in any order:<\/p>\n
