The Linux implementation of this interface may differ (consult the corresponding Linux manual page for details of Linux behavior), or the interface may not be implemented on Linux.<\/p>\n<h2>NAME <a name=\"NAME\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">fputwc \u2014 put a wide-character code on a stream<\/p>\n<h2>SYNOPSIS <a name=\"SYNOPSIS\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">#include <stdio.h> <br \/> #include <wchar.h><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">wint_t fputwc(wchar_t <i>wc<\/i>, FILE *<i>stream<\/i>);<\/p>\n<h2>DESCRIPTION <a name=\"DESCRIPTION\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The functionality described on this reference page is aligned with the ISO\u00a0C standard. Any conflict between the requirements described here and the ISO\u00a0C standard is unintentional. This volume of POSIX.1-2017 defers to the ISO\u00a0C standard.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>fputwc<\/i>() function shall write the character corresponding to the wide-character code <i>wc<\/i> to the output stream pointed to by <i>stream<\/i>, at the position indicated by the associated file-position indicator for the stream (if defined), and advances the indicator appropriately. If the file cannot support positioning requests, or if the stream was opened with append mode, the character is appended to the output stream. If an error occurs while writing the character, the shift state of the output file is left in an undefined state.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The last data modification and last file status change timestamps of the file shall be marked for update between the successful execution of <i>fputwc<\/i>() and the next successful completion of a call to <i>fflush<\/i>() or <i>fclose<\/i>() on the same stream or a call to <i>exit<\/i>() or <i>abort<\/i>().<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>fputwc<\/i>() function shall not change the setting of <i>errno<\/i> if successful.<\/p>\n<h2>RETURN VALUE <a name=\"RETURN VALUE\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">Upon successful completion, <i>fputwc<\/i>() shall return <i>wc<\/i>. Otherwise, it shall return WEOF, the error indicator for the stream shall be set, and <i>errno<\/i> shall be set to indicate the error.<\/p>\n<h2>ERRORS <a name=\"ERRORS\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>fputwc<\/i>() function shall fail if either the stream is unbuffered or data in the <i>stream<\/i>\u2019s buffer needs to be written, and:<\/p>\n<table width=\"100%\" border=\"0\" rules=\"none\" frame=\"void\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tr valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">\n<td width=\"11%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"9%\">\n<p><b>EAGAIN<\/b><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"2%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"78%\">\n<p>The O_NONBLOCK flag is set for the file descriptor underlying <i>stream<\/i> and the thread would be delayed in the write operation.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">\n<td width=\"11%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"9%\">\n<p><b>EBADF<\/b><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"2%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"78%\">\n<p>The file descriptor underlying <i>stream<\/i> is not a valid file descriptor open for writing.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">\n<td width=\"11%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"9%\">\n<p><b>EFBIG<\/b><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"2%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"78%\">\n<p>An attempt was made to write to a file that exceeds the maximum file size or the file size limit of the process.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">\n<td width=\"11%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"9%\">\n<p><b>EFBIG<\/b><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"2%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"78%\">\n<p>The file is a regular file and an attempt was made to write at or beyond the offset maximum associated with the corresponding stream.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">\n<td width=\"11%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"9%\">\n<p><b>EILSEQ<\/b><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"2%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"78%\">\n<p>The wide-character code <i>wc<\/i> does not correspond to a valid character.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">\n<td width=\"11%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"9%\">\n<p><b>EINTR<\/b><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"2%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"78%\">\n<p>The write operation was terminated due to the receipt of a signal, and no data was transferred.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">\n<td width=\"11%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"9%\">\n<p><b>EIO<\/b><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"2%\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"78%\">\n<p>A physical I\/O error has occurred, or the process is a member of a background process group attempting to write to its controlling terminal, TOSTOP is set, the calling thread is not blocking SIGTTOU, the process is not ignoring SIGTTOU, and the process group of the process is orphaned.
