The Linux implementation of this interface may differ (consult the corresponding Linux manual page for details of Linux behavior), or the interface may not be implemented on Linux.<\/p>\n<h2>NAME <a name=\"NAME\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">catgets \u2014 read a program message<\/p>\n<h2>SYNOPSIS <a name=\"SYNOPSIS\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">#include <nl_types.h><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">char *catgets(nl_catd <i>catd<\/i>, int <i>set_id<\/i>, int <i>msg_id<\/i>, const char *<i>s<\/i>);<\/p>\n<h2>DESCRIPTION <a name=\"DESCRIPTION\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>catgets<\/i>() function shall attempt to read message <i>msg_id<\/i>, in set <i>set_id<\/i>, from the message catalog identified by <i>catd<\/i>. The <i>catd<\/i> argument is a message catalog descriptor returned from an earlier call to <i>catopen<\/i>(). The results are undefined if <i>catd<\/i> is not a value returned by <i>catopen<\/i>() for a message catalog still open in the process. The <i>s<\/i> argument points to a default message string which shall be returned by <i>catgets<\/i>() if it cannot retrieve the identified message.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">The <i>catgets<\/i>() function need not be thread-safe.<\/p>\n<h2>RETURN VALUE <a name=\"RETURN VALUE\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\">If the identified message is retrieved successfully, <i>catgets<\/i>() shall return a pointer to an internal buffer area containing the null-terminated message string.
