DESCRIPTION <\/a> <\/h2>\n

The \/etc\/group<\/i> file is a text file that defines the groups on the system. There is one entry per line, with the following format:<\/p>\n

group_name:password:GID:user_list<\/p>\n

The fields are as follows:
group_name<\/i><\/p>\n

the name of the group.<\/p>\n

password<\/i><\/p>\n

the (encrypted) group password. If this field is empty, no password is needed.<\/p>\n\n\n

GID<\/i><\/p>\n<\/td>\n

<\/td>\n\n

the numeric group ID.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

user_list<\/i><\/p>\n

a list of the usernames that are members of this group, separated by commas.<\/p>\n
