The object can be an inode (file or directory), subvolume or the whole filesystem. See the description of <b>get<\/b> subcommand for more information about both btrfs object and property.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\"><b>btrfs property<\/b> provides an unified and user\u2212friendly method to tune different btrfs properties instead of using the traditional method like <b>chattr<\/b>(1) or <b>lsattr<\/b>(1).<\/p>\n<h2>SUBCOMMAND <a name=\"SUBCOMMAND\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\"><b>get<\/b> [\u2212t <i><type><\/i>] <i><object><\/i> [<i><name><\/i>]<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:17%;\">get property from a btrfs <i><object><\/i> of given <i><type><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:17%; margin-top: 1em\">A btrfs object, which is set by <i><object><\/i>, can be a btrfs filesystem itself, a btrfs subvolume, an inode (file or directory) inside btrfs, or a device on which a btrfs exists.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:17%; margin-top: 1em\">The option <i>\u2212t<\/i> can be used to explicitly specify what type of object you meant. This is only needed when a property could be set for more then one object type.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:17%; margin-top: 1em\">Possible types are <i>s[ubvol]<\/i>, <i>f[ilesystem]<\/i>, <i>i[node]<\/i> and <i>d[evice]<\/i>, where the first lettes is a shortcut.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:17%; margin-top: 1em\">Set the name of property by <i>name<\/i>. If no <i>name<\/i> is specified, all properties for the given object are printed. <i>name<\/i> is one of the following:<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:17%; margin-top: 1em\">ro<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:23%;\">read\u2212only flag of subvolume: true or false. Please also see section <i>SUBVOLUME FLAGS<\/i> in <b>btrfs\u2212subvolume<\/b>(8) for possible implications regarding incremental send.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:17%; margin-top: 1em\">label<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:23%;\">label of the filesystem. For an unmounted filesystem, provide a path to a block device as object. For a mounted filesystem, specify a mount point.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:17%; margin-top: 1em\">compression<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:23%;\">compression algorithm set for an inode, possible values: <i>lzo<\/i>, <i>zlib<\/i>, <i>zstd<\/i>. To disable compression use &#8220;&#8221; (empty string), <i>no<\/i> or <i>none<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\"><b>list<\/b> [\u2212t <i><type><\/i>] <i><object><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:17%;\">Lists available properties with their descriptions for the given object.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:17%; margin-top: 1em\">See the description of <b>get<\/b> subcommand for the meaning of each option.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\"><b>set<\/b> [\u2212f] [\u2212t <i><type><\/i>] <i><object> <name> <value><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:17%;\">Sets a property on a btrfs object.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:17%; margin-top: 1em\">See the description of <b>get<\/b> subcommand for the meaning of each option.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:17%; margin-top: 1em\"><b>Options<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:17%; margin-top: 1em\">\u2212f<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:23%;\">Force the change. Changing some properties may involve safety checks or additional changes that depend on the properties semantics.<\/p>\n<h2>EXIT STATUS <a name=\"EXIT STATUS\"><\/a> <\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:11%; margin-top: 1em\"><b>btrfs property<\/b> returns a zero exit status if it succeeds.
