Applications that are created setuid\u2212root generally retain the <i>UID<\/i> of the user but run with the authority of an enhanced effective\u2212UID. To obtain this behavior with PAM the following pair of lines are needed for the corresponding entry in the \/etc\/pam.d\/su configuration file:<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:17%; margin-top: 1em\"># su authentication.
