cache_metadata_size<\/b> – Estimate the size of the metadata device needed for a given configuration.<\/p>\n

SYNOPSIS <\/a> <\/h2>\n

cache_metadata_size<\/b> [options<\/i>]<\/p>\n

DESCRIPTION <\/a> <\/h2>\n

cache_metadata_size estimates the size of the metadata.<\/b><\/p>\n

Either –nr-blocks<\/b>, or –block-size<\/b> and –device-size<\/b> must be specified.<\/p>\n

OPTIONS <\/a> <\/h2>\n

–nr-blocks {natural}<\/b><\/p>\n

Specify the number of cache blocks.<\/p>\n

–block-size {sectors}<\/b><\/p>\n

Specify the size of each cache block in 512 byte sectors.<\/p>\n

–device-size {sectors}<\/b><\/p>\n

Specify total size of the fast device used in the cache. In 512 byte sectors.<\/p>\n

–max-hint-width {nr bytes}<\/b><\/p>\n

Specify hint width.<\/p>\n

Cache policies use a per block \u2019hint\u2019 to record extra info (for instance
hit counts). At the moment all policies use a 4 byte hint
width. If you want to use a different hint width specify it with this
switch.<\/p>\n

$ cache_metadata_size –nr-blocks<\/b> 10240<\/p>\n

$ cache_metadata_size –block-size<\/b> 128 –device-size<\/b> 1024000<\/p>\n
