cupsenable<\/b><\/i> starts the named printers or classes while cupsdisable<\/b> stops the named printers or classes.<\/p>\n

Uses the specified username when connecting to the server.<\/p>\n\n\n

Cancels all jobs on the named destination.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

\u2212h<\/b> server<\/i>[:<\/b>port<\/i>]<\/p>\n

Uses the specified server and port.<\/p>\n

\u2212\u2212hold<\/b><\/p>\n

Holds remaining jobs on the named printer. Useful for allowing the current job to complete before performing maintenance.<\/p>\n

\u2212r “<\/b>reason<\/i>“<\/b><\/p>\n

Sets the message associated with the stopped state. If no reason is specified then the message is set to “Reason Unknown”.<\/p>\n

\u2212\u2212release<\/b><\/p>\n

Releases pending jobs for printing. Use after running cupsdisable<\/b> with the \u2212\u2212hold<\/i> option to resume printing.<\/p>\n

CONFORMING TO <\/a> <\/h2>\n

Unlike the System V printing system, CUPS allows printer names to contain any printable character except SPACE, TAB, “\/”, or “#”. Also, printer and class names are not<\/i> case-sensitive.<\/p>\n

The System V versions of these commands are disable<\/b> and enable<\/b>, respectively. They have been renamed to avoid conflicts with the bash<\/b>(1) build-in commands of the same names.<\/p>\n

The CUPS versions of disable<\/b> and enable<\/b> may ask the user for an access password depending on the printing system configuration. This differs from the System V versions which require the root user to execute these commands.<\/p>\n
