NAME<\/a> zcip \u2212 zero configure network interface<\/p>\n zcip [-hsv] [-i interface]<\/b><\/p>\n zcip<\/b> does the ad-hoc link-local IPv4 auto-configuration trick, as described in the IETF Internet Draft \u2019Dynamic Configuration of IPv4 Link-Local Addresses\u2019.<\/p>\n [–help] , [-h]<\/b><\/p>\n Provide brief help and usage information, and exit.<\/p>\n [–syslog] , [-s]<\/b><\/p>\n Send all information to syslog, instead of standard output<\/p>\n [–version] , [-v]<\/b><\/p>\n Provide version information, and exit<\/p>\n [-i interface_name] , [–interface=interface_name]<\/b><\/p>\n Specifies the interface to configure. If this option is not used, zcip defaults to the eth0 device.<\/p>\n [-r] , [–randseed]<\/b><\/p>\n Seeds the random number generator that is used to create the interface\u2019s new IP address with a true random number rather than the MAC address of the device.<\/p>\n None yet, but maybe a configuration file will be added. We probably also need one or more files to store the IP for each interface.<\/p>\n zcip currently assumes that the target interface is down and reconfigures it. The IETF draft seems to suggest using multi-homing, which we don\u2019t do yet.<\/p>\n There should be a configuration option to work the same way Windows 2000 does, so we don\u2019t get beaten up so much.<\/p>\n Doesn\u2019t work if packet filtering is not enabled in the kernel (CONFIG_FILTER).
