DESCRIPTION <\/a> <\/h2>\n

The pam_echo<\/i> PAM module is for printing text messages to inform user about special things. Sequences starting with the %<\/i> character are interpreted in the following way:<\/p>\n

%H<\/i><\/p>\n

The name of the remote host (PAM_RHOST).<\/p>\n

%h<\/i><\/p>\n

The name of the local host.<\/p>\n

%s<\/i><\/p>\n

The service name (PAM_SERVICE).<\/p>\n

%t<\/i><\/p>\n

The name of the controlling terminal (PAM_TTY).<\/p>\n

%U<\/i><\/p>\n

The remote user name (PAM_RUSER).<\/p>\n

%u<\/i><\/p>\n

The local user name (PAM_USER).<\/p>\n

All other sequences beginning with %<\/i> expands to the characters following the %<\/i> character.<\/p>\n

OPTIONS <\/a> <\/h2>\n

file=<\/b>\/path\/message<\/i><\/p>\n

The content of the file \/path\/message will be printed with the PAM conversion function as PAM_TEXT_INFO.<\/p>\n

MODULE TYPES PROVIDED <\/a> <\/h2>\n

All module types (auth<\/b>, account<\/b>, password<\/b> and session<\/b>) are provided.<\/p>\n

RETURN VALUES <\/a> <\/h2>\n

PAM_BUF_ERR<\/p>\n

Memory buffer error.<\/p>\n

PAM_SUCCESS<\/p>\n

Message was successful printed.<\/p>\n

PAM_IGNORE<\/p>\n

PAM_SILENT flag was given or message file does not exist, no message printed.<\/p>\n

EXAMPLES <\/a> <\/h2>\n

For an example of the use of this module, we show how it may be used to print information about good passwords:<\/p>\n
