vipw, vigr \u2212 edit the password, group, shadow\u2212password or shadow\u2212group file<\/p>\n

DESCRIPTION <\/a> <\/h2>\n

The vipw<\/b> and vigr<\/b> commands edits the files \/etc\/passwd and \/etc\/group, respectively. With the \u2212s<\/b> flag, they will edit the shadow versions of those files, \/etc\/shadow and \/etc\/gshadow, respectively. The programs will set the appropriate locks to prevent file corruption. When looking for an editor, the programs will first try the environment variable $VISUAL<\/b>, then the environment variable $EDITOR<\/b>, and finally the default editor, vi<\/b>(1).<\/p>\n

Apply changes in the CHROOT_DIR<\/i> directory and use the configuration files from the CHROOT_DIR<\/i> directory.<\/p>\n
